Police enforce tight security measures at Ramadan, Eid al-Ftri in Yobe

The Yobe Police Command, has stepped up tight security measures during and after the month of Ramadan in the state.
According to the command, the enforced security measures comprise community joint patrols and rapid response to distress calls of residents.
The State Command Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated this I am press statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu.
“The tightening of our security measures during and after the Ramadan was to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid al-Ftri celebration across the state.
Abdulkarim said that the tightened security measures of the police were to prevent any security breach in protecting people’s lives and property.
He, therefore, urged leaders of mosques and other praying grounds to take security precautions during “evening and dawn” prayers, particularly the Tahujjud praying session.
On securing communities at night, he said their leaders should work closely with the nearest police stations or security agencies to respond to any distress call.
The spokesman also urged the people to report suspicious movements and activities in their communities to the police and other security agencies.
He added that worshippers at Ramadan and Eid al-Ftri celebrations also inform their neighbours to lock all doors and windows with the switching on of outdoor lights.
