The Yobe Police Command has recorded another significant success by rescuing a 22-year-old girl from kidnappers in Tashan Randa village of Fika Local Council of the state.
According to the command, the kidnappers attacked the residence of Malam Maikudi, before abducting his 22-year-old daughter on May 6, 2025, at 5:58 p.m.
This was contained in a press statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Damaturu by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdulkarim Dungus.
“The Fika Divisional Police Headquarters promptly responded by initiating a thorough investigation, which led to the rescue of the abducted girl.
He added that the coordinated investigations also led to the bursting of kidnappers’ hideouts located in remote areas of the community.
On how the girl was rescued, Dungus said, “The police received demands for an N5 million ransom, which facilitated the rescue operations at the kidnappers’ den.”
The SP continued, “The rescue operation was successful through the collaboration of hunters and vigilantes by arresting two suspects, comprising Waiti Bello, 30, and Idrissa Adamu, 35, of Jangalawaje and Biriri villages, respectively, in Gujba Local Council of the state.
Dungus further disclosed that the two arrested suspects are also linked to the abduction of the 22-year-old girl in the community.
The weapons recovered from the suspects included a Dane gun and a motorcycle that facilitated the abduction of the girl.
He, however, stated that other members of the abduction syndicate are currently on the run, while efforts are intensified to nab them to face the wrath of the law.
Meanwhile, he said that the suspects have also confessed to the crime, and they are cooperating with the security operatives in the ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, also called for community collaboration in fighting the various crimes, including sexual assaults, armed robbery, burglary, theft, and vehicle snatching in the households and on roads.
