Sports: Taraba SWAN set up three man electoral committee

The Taraba State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Saturday constituted a three man electoral committee to conduct the election that would usher in new EXCOs.

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting held at the Nuj Press Centre in Jalingo, the capital city.

The communique drafting committee has Mr. Charles Akpeji of the Correspondents’ chapel as Chairman and Mr. Joachim Dangana of Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS), member, while Mr. Tanko Bauka from Taraba Television (TTV) served as Secretary.

The communique which was signed by the Chairman and Secretary, said the electoral committee that was set up comprises of Charles Akpeji of the Correspondents’ chapel, Mohammed Sambo of NTA and Keke Moses of TSBS.

The communique outlined the following as terms of reference for the committee:

They were assigned with the responsibility of conducting free, fair and credible election for the association in the state.

They were also mandated with the responsibility of inaugurating the new officials of the association that would emerged from the election.

It was also agreed that the members of the election committee should tread extra legitimate miles to source for funds to conduct the election.

They were also advised to endeavour to always fall back to the Executive members of the association should any problem arise during the course of carrying out their assigned responsibilities.

After all said and done, the committee was given two weeks to conclude the election assignments.

The emergency meeting of the association which was called at the instance of the Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Usman Jalingo, has in attendance the National Deputy President of SWAN, Alhaji Abubakar Moyoyo as well as several members of the association.
