Taraba Tiv youth forum pass vote of no confidence on its President, others

The Tiv Youth Forum, Taraba State has passed a vote of no confidence on the President General of Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Joshua John Ayagwa, and the entire leaders of the Association over alleged misconduct.

The group, revealed the resolutions while addressing newsmen on Monday in Jalingo. Speaking through the National President of the association, Comrade Kelvin Aondona Katyo, the group appealed to the Tiv traditional rulers to within fourteen days call for a congress and start the process of electing the new executive council of the association in the state.

We are delighted to address you once again on the state of affairs concerning the good and peace loving Tiv people of Taraba State.

Our attention is once again drawn to a recent malicious and unauthorized press release issued by Joshua John Ayagwa and aired on TV Taraba.

Ordinarily, we would have dismissed the said press release since it originated from a political jobber like Joshua John Ayagwa. However, for the purpose of keeping the records straight and in order not to misinform the general public, we are compelled to respond to this press release and state as follows:

That since the assumption of office as the President-General of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Taraba State, Joshua John Ayagwa has continually acted in ways that are inimical to the peace, unity and progress of the Tiv people of Taraba State, the same people he claimed to represent. This is contrary to section 3 of the Tiv Cultural and social association’s constitution. 

That since the assumption of office as President General, Joshua John Ayagwa has continually used every opportunity both on social and conventional media to portray many illustrious and valuable Tiv sons and daughters of Taraba State in bad light as can be seen in his last press release.

These Tiv sons are people that have contributed immensely in the emancipation and progress of Tiv people of Taraba State. The pertinent question to ask is; must Joshua John Ayagwa continue to insult the sensitivity, personality and integrity of Tiv men and women who are in every respect far above him to look for crumbs? In any case we don’t blame him, we rather blame ourselves for allowing a driver and a secondary school holder by proxy to lead the Tiv people of Taraba State, at such a critical time in our history.

We had allowed him despite his emptiness to lead on the premise of the revered Tiv traditional principle of “Ya Na Angbian” hence the Ichongo section of the Tiv brought him forward.

That since the assumption of office, Joshua John Ayagwa has never convened and presided over a single Congress meeting successfully, and the last failed meeting was held on 15/11/2020.  Is this how he want to lead the Tiv people of Taraba State at this critical time that our continuous existence in the State is being threatened? This can only be a joke!

Gentlemen of the press, it may interest you to know that, since assumption of office, Joshua John Ayagwa have shifted the Secretariat of Tiv Cultural and Social Association to a beer drinking joint in Jalingo where official matters are discussed and official meetings held with his associates, contrary to sections 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9 of Tiv Cultural and social association’s constitution.  Such an attitude is totally unacceptable.

Since the assumption of office, Joshua John Ayagwa has reduced himself and the exalted office of the President General of Tiv Cultural and Social Association into an errand boy of some Tiv political appointees in Taraba State. His only responsibility is to executes the mandate of the said appointees, this again contravene sections 2, 3, 4, and 9 of Tiv Cultural and social association’s constitution.

Since assumption of office, Joshua John Ayagwa have made frantic efforts to ensure that he tarnishes the image of any Tiv civil servant in Taraba State who is not sympathetic to his act of misconduct as was recently demonstrated when he approached the management of Taraba State Polytechnic Suntai to terminate the appointment of a staff of the institution. This is also contrary to sections 3 and 9 of the association’s constitution. 

We equally wish to emphatically state as follows:

That Joshua John Ayagwa lacks the capacity to lead the Tiv people of Taraba State.

That because of some legal issues surrounding Joshua John Ayagwa, he can no longer preside over an organization like the Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Taraba State.

That as from today, we the Tiv youth of Taraba State have withdrawn our loyalty from the leadership of Joshua John Ayagwa.

That anybody dealing with Joshua John Ayagwa as the President General of Tiv Cultural and Social Association of Taraba State is doing so at his/her own risk.

That we appeal to Tiv traditional rulers to within fourteen days call for a congress and start the process of electing the new executive council of the association. 

We want to say Enough Is Enough.

Reacting to the allegations, the President General, Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Taraba State, Comrade Joshua John Ayagwa said he will not join issues with a group he doesn’t know.

“I don’t know them, so their allegations are baseless and if they are Tiv people as they claimed, they should come out let them be known not just for them to go and hide somewhere and be writing, you see, as far as am concern am the Tub leader in Taraba state, so if they are Tivs let them show themselves and table their grievances, so that we can sit down and trash them out.

“So I cannot react to an unrecognized association, you know some people are enemies of peace”. Ayagwa emphasized.
