TETfund’s interventions in institutions enhancing research, capacity building in Nigeria- Kashere varsity VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere, Professor Umaru A. Pate has commended the laudable efforts of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) as one of the pillars of Institutions that is defining the future of the country through research, enhancing the development and capacity building of the nation.
Speaking on behalf of other Heads of Tertiary Institutions at the North East Zonal Meeting on National Research Fund, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umaru. A. Pate expressed optimism and commitment towards achieving the objectives of the meeting and assured them that “the North East is in dire need of research and therefore they cannot continue to fail”.
The Vice Chancellor said that they were assuring the TETFund of their unalloyed commitment on behalf all the Institutions in the Zone, adding that they shall also go back to implement all the resolutions agreed upon and to see how they could be mentioned positively in the next circle of North Research Forum (NRF).
He stressed that “the future is dependent on level of knowledge as well as your contributions to global elevation of discoveries and things that are happening and Nigeria cannot continue to stand at the back”.
Professor Umaru. A Pate who is a scholar of international repute explained that research demands a lot of sacrifices, efforts, intellect, network and coalition building.
According to him, “the only way we can make such contributions is through capacity enhancement and skilful contributions.”
It would be recalled that TETFund was said to be working towards the establishment of the National Research and Development Foundation (NRDF) for the socio-economic and technological advancement of the country while the Executive Secretary of the Fund, Professor Suleiman Bogoro disclosed that the backdrop of the meeting was the composition of the Committee which comprises officials from the Ministries of Education, Health, Agriculture, Science and Technology with the mandate to produce an executive bill to push for the legislation.
