Toro APC Chairmanship Candidate urged FG to intervene on SIP Programme

Local Government Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Saadu Umar, IS urging Hummanitarian and Desater Management Minister to intervene in Social investment programmes in his area.
Legal Adviser of the Saadu Umar Campaign Organisation, Nasiru Adamu and Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Director Publicity said so in a statement on Tuesday in Bauchi.
The statement says the ministry and the state government should check the alleged dirty deal going on in the investment projects in Toro Local Government area.
“We implore the security agencies, the federal government, the UK, EU, USA and the United Nations to defend and protect the rights to vote of the vendors and the Voters of Bauchi State”, the statement says.
It alleged that the PDP flag bearer, alongside Toro Desk Officer of the Special Investment Program, (SIP) and PDP allegedly sermon food vendors.
“Threatened to sack them if they failed to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming 17th October council election in Bauchi,”
“The food vendors were summoned to Toro LG Secretariat, inside Dr. Dabo Hall and held them to ransom by threats of sack them
“Unless they vote for PDP in the forthcoming Toro LG Council Election”, the statement further alleged.
The Campaign organization and the APC Toro LG Chapter strongly condemned these acts of intimidation, threats and witch hunt.
They reject the move and describe it as unconstitutional, autocratic and undemocratic acts being orchestrated by aforementioned PDP stalwarts.
It said that the move was an attempt to subvert the electoral process and create space for cheating even before the day of the election.
The statement reminded the constitutional rights of the Vendors and every citizen of Toro to vote for candidates of their choice without threats, intimidation or political witch-hunt.
The Campaign organization also urged the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission ( BASIEC) to take note of the move and ensure that they conduct free, fair and credible.
“We want to assure our supporters that we will do everything legally necessary to defend them and their rights”, the statement assured.
