In a renewed offensive against Boko Haram terrorists, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) with aerial support from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have neutralised a Boko Haram commander, Mallam Jidda, along with dozens of terrorists in Gujba Local Council of Borno and Yobe states.
Jidda was killed in the Nggazalgana community of the council in the Timbuktu Triangle of Sambisa Forest.
In a statement released yesterday, in Maiduguri, the acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, OPHK, Capt.
Rueben Kovangiya revealed, “Jidda was reported to be the Ameer (commander) of Ngorgore and Malumtib hideouts before he was killed in a coordinated ground and aerial operation on June 9, 2025.
He said during the operation of about an hour, troops came in contact with the insurgents and subdued them with superior firepower, killing their commander, Jidda, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
Similarly, the troops, he added, continue to explore the general areas of Malam Fatori in the Abadam local council of Borno State by eliminating an unspecified number of terrorists with the recovery of arms and other fighting equipment.
According to him, other recoveries made in the two operations include AK-47 rifles, motorcycles, AK-47 magazines, rocket-propelled gun tubes, hand grenades and radios, and a large quantity of ammunition. Kovangiya also noted that OPHK remains committed to restoring peace and security in the Northeast region.
