UNICEF Reaffirms Commitment to Maternal, Child Health in Gombe, Highlights Success of MNCH Week

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reiterated its dedication to improving maternal and child health in Gombe State and the surrounding region, following the success of the recent Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Week.
Speaking at a review meeting on Wednesday, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, Chief of the UNICEF Field Office in Bauchi, praised the impact of the MNCH Week. She highlighted the impressive turnout of beneficiaries and the effective delivery of essential health services, including immunization, antenatal care, and nutritional supplements.
Dr. Abdulrahman Shuaibu, Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, lauded the collaborative efforts of all partners in ensuring the program’s success. He emphasized that initiatives like MNCH Week are crucial for addressing the health challenges faced by mothers and children in the state.
The review meeting provided an opportunity to evaluate achievements, challenges, and lessons from the MNCH Week. Representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and other partners shared insights and recommendations to further enhance health interventions in the region.
The session concluded with a resolution to strengthen partnerships, boost community engagement, and implement sustainable health programs aimed at improving the well-being of mothers and children across Gombe State.
