VC Federal University Gashua solicit staff support

The Vice-Chancellor Federal University Gashua, Professor Maimuna Waziri, has called on staff of the University especially their Unions to join hands with her administration in moving the University forward.

Professor Maimuna made the call when she received branch executives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) led by its Chairman Dr Abacha Melemi who paid her a courtesy in her office.

“I thank you for your support and encouragement right from the time when I was a DVC to the time when i participated in the contest for the position of Vice-Chancellor, from the beginning to the end when I emerged as the winner, you always supported me.

“I want to appreciate you and also assure you that by the grace of Almighty God, I will do everything possible to move this University forward, and if there is any time I needed your support much, it is now, because this is a new administration and I cannot work alone.

Professor Maimuna stressed that she needed the support of all staff of the University.

She maintained that only when the management and the various unions work as a team the desired development of the University can be achieved.

Earlier speaking the branch Chairman of ASUU Dr Abacha Melemi, said the essence of their visit is to congratulate the Vice Chancellor for her recent appointment by the University Governing council stressing that the Union is full of gratitude to God for elavating one of their own to pilot the affairs of the University.

Some of the issues and demands presented to the Vice-Chancellor by the Union during the visit included the need for providing conducive teaching and learning environment, enhance staff welfare, improve IGR and general infrastructural development of the institution.
