Wave of Change: Ex-Minister, Top PDP Figures Join ADC in Gombe Ahead of 2027

In a dramatic political shakeup poised to reshape Gombe State’s 2027 electoral landscape, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed a powerful wave of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signaling a rising momentum for the opposition party.
At the forefront of the defection is former Minister of Transport, Barrister Abdullahi Idris, who made a bold entrance into the ADC fold alongside notable PDP stalwarts, including retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Adamu Fura—once a PDP governorship hopeful—former Commissioner of Finance, Hassan Muhammad, ex-Commissioner of Health, Dr. Ahmad Gana, and several other influential party figures.
The high-profile crossover was met with enthusiasm as crowds of supporters gathered to witness what many described as a defining moment in Gombe’s political trajectory.
Barrister Idris, now a leading voice within the ADC, called on their supporters across the state to rally behind the party, presenting it as a credible alternative for inclusive leadership and sustainable development.
“We’re not just switching parties; we’re ushering in a new political culture—one rooted in equity, accountability, and real progress. I urge all our supporters to embrace the ADC as the future of Gombe,” he declared.
He further appealed to party members to uphold peace and discipline, emphasizing the need for lawful conduct and democratic values. “Let our actions reflect maturity, integrity, and commitment to the rule of law,” Idris added.
Gombe State ADC Chairman, Auwal Barde, welcomed the new entrants with optimism, describing their defection as a turning point in the state’s political narrative.
“The arrival of Barrister Abdullahi Idris and other respected leaders is not just a gain for the ADC—it’s a signal that the tide is turning,” Barde stated.
“With this renewed strength, we’re confident of dislodging the APC and steering Gombe into a new era of inclusive governance by 2027.”
He assured party loyalists and the public that the ADC is building a united, visionary, and people-driven movement capable of delivering on the yearnings of the people.
The mass defection not only strengthens ADC’s position but also injects fresh energy into the state’s political atmosphere, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
