We Owe Eternal Gratitude to Fallen Soldiers in Borno – Shettima

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has honored the memory of six soldiers who lost their lives while repelling a terrorist attack in Damboa, Borno State, describing them as eternal heroes whose sacrifices will never be forgotten.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja by his spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima expressed deep sorrow and unwavering solidarity with the families of the fallen soldiers.

He acknowledged the military’s decisive victory in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts but lamented the steep cost of securing freedom.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I received the news of our brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our nation in Damboa. These six valiant soldiers displayed exceptional courage in the face of danger to protect their fellow citizens,” Shettima said.

The Vice-President hailed the soldiers’ heroism, emphasizing that their sacrifices are a testament to the extraordinary price of peace and security in the country.

“These heroes died ensuring that their fellow Nigerians can live in safety, free from the scourge of insecurity that has plagued our nation,” he added.

Shettima reassured grieving families that their loved ones’ sacrifices would never be in vain, promising that their memory would inspire future generations.

“To our armed forces, your unwavering commitment to protecting our citizens, even at the cost of your own lives, fills us with profound gratitude and respect. We will continue to support you and provide all necessary resources to ensure you can carry out your duties effectively,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to honor the fallen soldiers by remaining steadfast in the collective pursuit of peace and security.

“May Allah grant our fallen heroes Aljannah Firdaus, comfort their families, and give us all the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Shettima prayed.
