Why I ventured into writing– General Buratai (Rtd)

Nigeria’s envoy to Benin Republic and former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai ( Rtd) said that his background as a historian and a lover of books made him venture into the literary world.

The former Army General made the remarks when answering questions at the occasion of the book reading of The Legend of Buratai Volume 2 which was organised by the Borno Literary Society.

The Legend of Buratai Volume 2 was the book selected by the Borno Literary Society for reviewing and critiquing to find homegrown solutions to build resilience and overcome insurgency and related security problems in the northeast.

Ambassador Buratai who also delivered the keynote address of the event admonished youths to imbibe the culture of reading and to also shun all forms of violence.

Dr Othman Abubakar, H.O.D of the English Language Department at the University of Maiduguri described Amb. Buratai is an enigmatic son of Borno.

” I want to comment on General Buratai for writing this book but let me also say that this book is too modest to contain the nitty-gritty of his life. Therefore I recommend that he come up with a more detailed version or another Volume. We want to hear all the stories,” said Dr Abubakar.
