The Yobe state government has distributed N15 motorcycles to vigilantes and the members of the National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers (NSWDE) for effective patrols of the hard-to-reach areas.
Members of the vigilante group are from the insurgency-affected local councils of Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa, and Geidam, a border community with the Niger Republic.
Distributing the motorcycles on Saturday in Damaturu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Brig-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), disclosed: “These motorcycles are to facilitate the vigilantes access to the difficult terrain while patrolling the hard-to-reach areas, including the terrorists’ hideouts in the state.”
He noted that this has become inevitable in the protection of people’s lives and property.
Abdulsalam added that the use of motorcycles during the rainy season could overcome the challenges of difficult terrains faced by the military, police, and other security agencies.
He, therefore, commended the commitments of Governor Mai Mala Buni in overcoming the challenges of insecurity to lives and property in the state.
