Yobe sensitises stakeholders, institutions on cybercrimes, digital safety

The Yobe State Government, in collaboration with the focal person on Cyber Security and Information Technology (CSIT), Abdulmuninu Kolo Gulani, has sensitised stakeholders, policy makers, security personnel and institutions on the increasing cyber threats in the country.
Declaring the digital threats sensitisation open at Yobe State University (YSU) in Damaturu, Special Adviser on policy implementation to the governor, Dr. Kole Shettima, said cyber security sensitisation was to tackle digital threats in the state.
Shettima underscored the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures as the state implements a significant digital transformation for efficiency.
He also warned against data breaches, ransomware, and the devastating impacts of misinformation in the various sectors of the local economy.
The cybercrime sensitisation theme, “Contemporary Challenges and Solutions”, was to discuss critical issues on data breaches, ransomware, and the pervasive impacts of cybercrimes in the state.
Shettima further highlighted the looming cybercrimes, stating, “As the State advances into digital governance and public service, cyber security is no more optional but a critical pillar to the economic development strategies of the Buni administration.
