Zulum boosts military operations with 38 patrol vehicles and motorcycles in Borno

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has approved the immediate deployment of 35 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to enhance the fighting capacities of the military and youth volunteers in the Izge community of Gwoza Local Council of the state.
The deployment of vehicles was ordered during Zulum’s assessment of the security situation in the local council over the weekend in the Izge community over the weekend.
He commended the troops and vigilant communities for their gallantry in repelling the recent attack of Boko Haram terrorists.
“I am here to assess the security situation on the ground and find out from you what your real problems are so that we can address them squarely to restore peace.
“We’re optimistic that, insha Allah, we shall never lose again. I want to commend the military notwithstanding some of the comments made by some people, including my humble self.”
The governor continued, “When we said we’ve started witnessing a resurgence of Boko Haram terrorism, that does not mean we are belittling the Nigerian military.
“We’re just stating the reality so that we can come together in addressing the looming crisis,” stating that we should not lose ground to the insurgents at any time in communities or on the roads and highways in the state.
He assured the people that the state government will do everything possible to ensure that the people of Izge are not displaced by the Boko Haram insurgents.
“I want to commend the people of Izge. They are gallant and resilient during the 16-year insurgency.
Zulum further assured: “We’ll do whatever it takes to restore peace with the maintenance of law and order in the community. Consequently.
“Tell us what is supposed to be done, and we shall do it to protect your community from terrorism.” This might have prompted the governor for the immediate deployment of 35 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to the military and vigilante groups.
According to him, the deployed vehicles to Izge comprise five Toyota Hilux vans and 30 motorcycles, among other operational logistics to the community. Zulum further announced plans for the gradual resettlement of liberated communities in the Gwoza Local Council, including the ones bordering with Cameroon.
He listed the over dozen communities to be resettled with IDPs, including Warabe, Guduf, Wala, Bitta, Jaje, Agapalawa, Barawa, Chikideh, Kughum and Ashgashiya, and two border communities with Cameroon.
