Zulum extends Adam’s tenure as BOGIS’s executive secretary

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has renewed the appointment of Engr. Adam Bababe as the executive secretary of the state’s Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) for land administration and management.
According to him, the renewal of the five-year term was based on Bababe’s exceptional performance and transformative leadership in land administration in the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dauda Iliya, on Monday in Maiduguri, stated, “The tenure extension by Zulum followed the provisions of Section 22(2) of BOGIS Law, 2019 (HA2),” noting that this allows for an additional five-year tenure upon the approvals of the executive governor.
Zulum, therefore, expressed satisfaction with Bababe’s performance, stating that, “I have approved the appointment renewal of the executive secretary of BOGIS for the second and final term of five years as recommended.”
Zulum also congratulated Bababe for his reappointment, urging him to continue building on the achievements recorded in the last five years. Besides the achievements, he charged the executive secretary to further advance the goals of the agency, particularly in the efficient and effective land administration and title holdings across the state.
The governor continued: “Bababe is to continue building on gains made and consolidate on the laudable achievements recorded during his first tenure.” Bababe’s first tenure has ended on Friday, January 17, 2025.
The agency was established in 2019 for land administration and management in the state. BOGIS’s mandate, included the overseeing of land titles, registrations and certification processes, as well as ensuring global best practices in land administration.
Meanwhile, the agency has successfully automated land title documents, including the issuance of 2,500 Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) by the governor.
