Benue ALGON Leaders Meet with Defence Chief to Boost Security Collaboration
By Lawrence Bilal Audu
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Benue State chapter on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
Led by ALGON Benue State Chairman, Hon. Mourice Orwough, alongside Deputy Chairman Hon. Amb. James Melvin Ejeh and Secretary-General Hon. Jonathan Modi Ta, the delegation sought to strengthen ties between the military and local governments in addressing grassroots security challenges.
This high-level engagement underscores the importance of aligning efforts between military and civil authorities to promote peace and development across Benue State and beyond. By fostering seamless cooperation, local governments play a pivotal role in supporting national security initiatives.
The visit is particularly significant given Benue State’s efforts to tackle insecurity, including the launch of a 10,000-strong local security outfit. Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has also appreciated the Nigerian Army’s efforts in maintaining peace in the state.
As security remains a top priority, collaborations like this demonstrate the commitment of both military and civil leaders to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
