Board decries infrastructural decay at Taraba College of Agriculture
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on Friday decried a decay in both academic and physical infrastructure at the Taraba College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Jalingo.
The reports gathered that various Resource Persons and sub team leaders while presenting their findings, submitted that the College had deteriorated in both academic and infrastructural conditions.
Dr Rufai Ibrahim, Leader of the team, while presenting the overall findings in Jalingo, listed lack of office accommodation, out dated curriculum, poor facilities, inadequate books in the library and machines.

He also identified non-constitution of governing council among many other things as inadequacies capable of militating against the growth of the College.
Ibrahim commended Gov. Agbu Kefas for his demonstration of zeal in education especially by approving massive physical infrastructural projects in the College.
According to him, it is now that Taraba has a governor that is willing to improve quality and standard of education in the state.
He assured the governor of readiness of the board to facilitate the transition of the institution from a monotechnic to a polytechnic.
He expressed optimism that the transition would put the institution at par with other institutions in both academic and physical infrastructural development.
In his remarks, Dr Yakubu Garjila, Rector of the College, thanked the team for their seamless accreditation exercise.
Garjila admitted the findings from the team, adding that the college had been neglected in the areas of funding and governmental attention.
He appealed to the NBTE to facilitate the smooth transition of the institution to a polytechnic that would attract funding from the TETFUND.
He expressed confidence that Gov. Kefas was committed to tackling he institutional decay.
The rector pointed out the massive physical projects allocated to the school, saying that the governor was ready to do more.
He thanked both the management and staff of the institution for their cooperation with the NBTE team.
The reports gathered that the two -day accreditation exercise covers the following courses; National Diploma (ND)/ Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture Technology. ND/HND Forestry Technology.
Others are; ND/HND Home and Rural Economics, ND Animal Health and Production Technology, HND Animal Health Technology and HND Animal Production Technology. HND Crop Production Technology.
Also on the list are; HND Agriculture Extension and Management, ND Agriculture and Bio-environmental Engineering Technology, HND Agriculture and Bio-environmental Engineering Tech (Farm Power Option).
HND Agriculture and Bio-environmental Engineering Tech (soil and water Option), Institutional Administration and ND Fishers Technology.
