Buni declares July 1 as education day, distributes textbooks to schools

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has flagged a free feeding programme (FFEP) with the distribution of textbooks and laboratory equipment to secondary schools.
According to him, the inauguration of the feeding programme and distribution of educational materials informed the State Government to declare July of every year as Education Day.

Distributing the educational materials at the weekend in Damaturu, he disclosed that the procurement of 100,000 textbooks and laboratory equipment are to reinvigorate basic education in public schools with solid foundation.
“These are part of the measures of the government to develop the education sector for the present and future generations,” he said.
While reviewing the education sector performance, he said: “We’re satisfied with the State’s performance in the education sector.
“There are strong reasons to celebrate the impressive achievements recorded in State’s basic and secondary education,”
He noted that most of the schools are using modern teaching materials and application of innovative techniques invented by the Ministry of Education in schools.
Continued; “Today, we can proudly tell our stories of success on hard work and commitment of the State Government,” stating that this followed the declaration of state of emergency in the education sector.
“The inaugurated feeding programme comprises the introduction of chicken and eggs into the menu of public boarding schools across the state,” he said.
According to him, the emergency declaration has yielded impressive performance by students in the national examinations.
