EEC, ATEC win N11.6 billion road, bridge projects in Borno

Borno State Government has awarded contracts for the dualization and construction of N11.6 billion roads projects in the Maiduguri metropolis.
The 5.324 km dualization of Ahmadu Bello Way/El-Kanemi Roundabout/ Mogoram/Lafiya/Shehu Sanda Kura roads have been awarded to Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) at the cost of N8.8 billion.
While 7.88- kilomere Ngarnam and Umarari roads are also to be completed by Abtuse Tech Engineering Company (ATEC) firm at N2.8 billion.
Speaking at the weekend (Friday) signing the contracts at Musa Usman Secretariat complex, Maiduguri, Works Permanent Secretary, Ali Goni Lawan disclosed that the awarded roads projects are to be completed in 12 months.
“These road projects will have two bridges and drainage facilities with specifications and guidelines approved in the terms of contracts,” he said.
He said that a monitoring and evaluation team has also been raised to ensure compliance to all the terms of contracts with the two firms.
He warned that there will be no compromises on specifications and period of completing the roads and bridges.
The Managing Director of ATEC, Umar Sheriff Lawan said: “Today is memorable in the roads construction business for over a decade,” noting that the Governor has confidence in the firm by re-awarding roads contracts at N2.8 billion.
He assured the State Government that the roads are to be completed by the end of this year.
EEC Project Engineer, Mr. Li Chao Qi also thanked the State Government for considering the worthy of a firm to execute the dualization of metropolitan roads and bridges within terms of contracts.
“We’ll meet all the specifications and complete them in a year,” said Qi.
