An NGO Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation (ASHH Foundation) in Bauchi state has trained 20 rural women on pasta making in the Dambam Local Government Area of the State
Mrs Comfort Attah, Executive Director of the Foundation, while supervising the beneficiaries at the training centre in Dambam said that the objective of the empowerment initiative was to equip the beneficiaries with life-saving skills.
She said the project supported Women for Women International in order to enhance rural women’s economic status in their respective communities.
Attah implored the beneficiaries to put use the training they acquired and also cascade the skills to other vulnerable members of the community.
She informed the beneficiaries that the pasta making training will soon be followed by the distribution of the machines in a grand ceremony.
Attah also said that the initiative is just one out of the other skills programs being implemented in the State by ASHH Foundation, with funding from Women for Women International.
She Commended the community leaders and the beneficiaries for their support and enthusiasm demonstrated during the training.
“The brand of pasta you were trained on is different from the regular pasta you see around. This brand of pasta comes with its spicing that will be ready-to-eat after a short time cooking,” she said.
Attah expressed her hope that the skills acquired by the women will pave the way for them to contribute meaningfully on the home front and the community at large.
In a remark, the community leader Mallam Sadisu Shehu Dambam appreciated ASHH Foundation and Women for Women International for selecting the community to benefit from the skills acquisition program.
Shehu said that their doors are always open for any developmental project that would reduce the poverty level of the community.
A beneficiary, Tasalla Adamu also expressed her appreciation to NGOs for the training which she described as “life-changing”.
She said that she is going to be training others and plough back some of the profit back into the business so that it may grow.
