Gombe State Gov Inspects Proposed Site For 600 Houses, NEDC Mass Housing
The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has paid an unscheduled visit to the proposed site for the construction of six hundred houses in the state.
This was contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
According to the statement, the project which is being handled by his administration under its family housing scheme is located along the Gombe-Kano Bypass road.
The governor also inspected the ongoing construction of five hundred housing units by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), announcing his plans to construct 1,000 housing units for low-income earners in the state.
The project will comprise 1, 2 and 3-bedroom houses which will be sold to beneficiaries at affordable prices.
Also, the Governor had in October last year, laid the foundation for the NEDC’s 500 mass housing units in the State.
Speaking in an interview shortly after going around the two sites on Thursday, Governor Yahaya said already the Family Housing Fund (FHF) had certified that Gombe State has met all the necessary requirements for the implementation of the project, adding that he was satisfied with what he saw.
“These are fresh brand new layouts and accessibility is key; there must be roads, and water supply and there should also be provided for health care facilities, schools, and Police stations as well as provision of playgrounds for the welfare of Children.
“All these are the essential things that are very necessary and the government will guarantee them on the ground”, the governor added.
Commenting on the Gombe Special Capital Zone, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said it is specially meant to house the three arms of government- the executive, legislature and judiciary, adding that there would be a High court in line with his vision.
The governor added that immediately after the Gombe motor park is commissioned, Bauchi road motor park will be relocated.
He disclosed that the site and other structures behind the park will be used for the project, maintaining that the resources are available on the ground.
Speaking at the construction site of the NEDC’s mass housing, the Director General/ Coordinator of the Commission in Gombe state, Alhaji Shehu Yarima Abdullahi took the governor around some of the completed structures.
He explained that out of the five hundred units, two hundred and fifty units will be cited in Gombe while the remaining split across the local government areas to cater for workers in primary health centres and teachers in the rural areas.
