Liverpool Goalkeeper Alisson Out for Six Weeks Due to Injury
Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker is set to miss six weeks of action following a hamstring injury sustained during the team’s recent Premier League victory over Crystal Palace.
The 32-year-old Brazilian international was forced off the field with 11 minutes remaining in the match. Medical tests have confirmed that Alisson will not be available until after the upcoming international break, meaning his earliest possible return could be for Liverpool’s Premier League game against Southampton on Nov. 24.
This injury is a significant blow for manager Arne Slot, as Liverpool face key fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League this month, along with crucial Champions League ties against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.
Backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who was absent from the Palace match due to illness, is expected to step in as he did last season when Alisson was sidelined for over two months with a similar hamstring injury.
