The Yobe State Public Service has said that out of 32,140 civil servants, 5,029 have failed to submit their biodata capture verification forms for payments of their monthly salaries.
According to the verification committee, only 27,111 workers participated in the biodata verification exercise for their salary payments authentication.
Presenting the bio-data verification report on Wednesday in Damaturu, the YSPS Permanent Secretary and Chairman of the Committee on the Nominal Roll of Civil Servants, Dr. Bukar Kilo, stated, “Today’s event was the presentation of a report on bio-data capture verifications to the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa.”
In overcoming the challenges of non-verification of workers in the civil service, Dr. Kilo directed the setup of a biodata capture verification committee.
Besides the verification exercise, he said that all staff that failed to submit their forms for the biodata capture are to present their original credentials, employment records, and six-month bank statements to the committee.
Kilo continued, “The biodata verification exercise will ensure the accuracy of our records in authenticating the total workforce on the payrolls of the state government.”
While commending the committee for workers verification, he noted that work is yet to be completed, as there are grey areas that need to be addressed by the committee.
“I met Governor Mai Mala Buni and discussed the matter with him by presenting a proposal for experts to handle cases of non-verification of workers on the payrolls of the state government.“
