Police arrest three suspects for armed robbery, theft in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested three suspects for armed robbery with the recoveries of N76.000 and a car in Damaturu.
The arrested persons include military personnel, Hassan Abdulhafiz, 22, of Operation Hadin Kai, Mustapha Abubakar,19, and Samaila Salmanu, 25.
Spokesman of Command, yesterday (Saturday) in a statement in Damaturu, disclosed that; “On January 22, 2022, at 10.30 pm, the three suspects invaded the residence of Aisha Usman in Sabon Pegi ward in possessions of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle.
“They succeeded in inflicting serious injuries on Aisha and her son, Ahmed Umar, 17, after tying them with a DSTV cable wire.”
He said the suspects were arrested for criminal conspiracy, house burglary, and armed robbery.
According to him, the suspects allegedly snatched a handset, 307 Peugeot car, marked NSR 672 DD and N250, 000 at gunpoint.
Besides, he added that after receiving a distress call, the police deployed technical and intelligent assets and arrested two suspects in Damaturu, while the third one was picked up with the stolen car in Darazau, Bauchi state.
“The arrested suspect intended to sell the snatched car, before sharing the proceeds with the two suspects in custody,” he said.
According to him, the suspects have since confessed to the crime and will be prosecuted after the investigations.
The Police Commissioner, Haruna Garba urged the people to be security conscious by reporting suspicious persons or movements to the nearest police station for prompt action.
