Police rescue 23 children from syndicated traffickers in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, has rescued 23 children from a suspected child trafficking syndicate in Abuja.
According to the command, the syndicated traffickers are operating under the guise of an orphanage home.
Intelligence sources also told Zagazola Makama that the rescue of children was carried out by a Mentoring Unit of the command, during its routine patrol in Kubwa community of FCT, where officers on patrol observed suspicious activities at the Mother Deborah Orphanage. Consequently, Makama stated that;
“Acting on the observed activities at the orphanage home, the police raided it, and successfully rescued a three-year-old child, who had been reported stolen from the neighbouring state of Kaduna.”
According to the sources, investigations have also led to the rescue of 22 additional children.
They included 14 females and eight males between the ages of two and 14. The owner of the orphanage, was identified as Ijeoma Andy and one other suspect, were arrested for failing to provide a satisfactory account of the children’s origins, particularly their parents and residences in Abuja and Kaduna.
