The Armed Forces of Nigeria have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism, stating that terrorists must be destroyed for the sake of peace. In a press statement Thursday, the military highlighted their ongoing efforts to defeat and dismantle terrorist infrastructure across the country.
According to the statement signed by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, the military’s war effort is designed to defeat and destroy terrorists, as well as dismantle their terror infrastructure. The operations are focused on intelligence-based attacks, mobilization, and air strikes to destroy terrorists.
Sequel to the killings of 5 personnel at a checkpoint in Abia, troops conducted several intelligence-based operations that led to the discovery and destruction of several IPOB/ESN terrorists camps across the region, including Igboro Forest in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State. Several arrests were made, and those found culpable are still in detention, providing intelligence value to the raids and arrest.
During the week under review, troops neutralized 197 terrorists and arrested 310 persons. They also arrested 22 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 251 kidnapped hostages. In the South-South region, troops denied oil thieves an estimated sum of Seven Hundred and Sixty-Five Million Six Hundred and Fifty-Four Thousand One Hundred Naira (N765,654,100.00).
Furthermore, troops recovered 180 assorted weapons and 5,123 assorted ammunition, including 2 PKT guns, one fabricated Arty gun, one G3 rifle, 73 AK47 rifles, and others. Other items recovered include 3,207 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,022 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, and 143 live cartridges.
In the Niger Delta area, troops discovered and destroyed 29 dugout pits, 22 boats, and 26 storage tanks. They also recovered 728,360 litres of stolen crude oil, 143,450 litres of illegally refined AGO, 1,100 litres of DPK, and 18,750 litres of PMS.
The Defence Headquarters has responded to allegations made by the Zamfara State Governor, stating that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are a professional force subservient to political authority. The military will not join issues with the Governor but rather choose the path of cooperation.
Troops of Op HADARIN DAJI deployed to Zamfara State have lost 9 personnel so far in June 2024. The military emphasized that winning the war without the support of the people is close to impossible.
Citizens are urged to understand the reason for the war against terrorism, and the military assured that they are working tirelessly to guarantee the safety and security of every citizen.

REPORT ON ONGOING MILITARY OPERATIONS BY THE ARMED FORCES OF NIGERIA AS AT 13 JUNE 2024
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADIN KAI (NORTH EAST)
1.Troops of Operation HADIN KAI recorded the following activities during the period under review; surrendering of BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists fighters and families, arrest suspected BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists collaborators, conducted offensive operations and fighting patrol as well as raid operations in Kaga, Mobbar, Konduga, Nganzai and Damboa LGAs of Borno State.
2. Details as follows:
a.Surrender of BH/ISWAP Terr Fighters.
(1) On 3 June 2024, a total of 2 BH/ISWAP terrorists fighters surrendered to troops in Kaga LGA of Borno State. Troops recovered one AK47 rifle, 57 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 5 magazines, 2 hand grenades and 3 baofeng radios amongst others.
(2) On 11 June 2024, one high profile suspected BH/ISWAP terrorists identified as Alhaji Bukar surrendered to troops in Gujba LGA of Yobe State. Suspect surrendered with one AK47 rifle, 2 magazines and 45 rouds of 7.62mm special ammo amongst other items.
(3) Between 4 and 11 Jun 24, a total of 464 terrs comprising 33 adult males 146 adult females and 305 children surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations.
b.Arrest of Suspected BH/ISWAP Terr Collaborators.
(1) On 4 June 2024, troops with hybrid forces raided BH/ISWAP enclave and arrested 2 suspected BH/ISWAP terrorists in Mobbar LGA of Borno State. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects hailed from Kore in Republic of Niger.
(2) Between 4 and 10 June 2024, following a tip-off troops in conjunction with hybrid forces in separate operations intercepted and arrested 16 suspected BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists collaborators and informants in Jere, Monguno, Chibok, Mobbar LGAs of Borno State as well as Geidam LGA of Yobe State.
c.Offensive Operation.
(1) On 4 June 2024, combined troops in conjunction with hybrid forces conducted offensive operation to BH/ISWAP terrorists enclave and made contact in Konduga LGA of Borno State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 15 terrorists and rescued 28 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 11 AK47 rifles, 4 fabricated rifles, 2 PKT guns, 3 dane guns, 2 hand grenades, 2 bandoliers, 532 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 342 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 103 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 7 magazines, 2 baofeng radios, 4 motorcycles and one mobile phone amongst others.
(2) Between 4 and 10 June 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Kukawa, Damboa, Nganzai, Ngala, Bama, Gwoza and Konduga LGAs of Borno State. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 26 terrorists and recovered 13 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated rifles, 4 dane guns, 3 hand grenades, 2 x 60mm mortar bomb, 267 rounds of 7.62mm special, 150 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 132 rounds of 5.56 x 54mm ammo, 20 linked 7.62 x 51mm ammo, 5 magazines, 3 motorcycles and 4 bicycles amongst others.
(3) On 8 June 2024, following report, troops in separate sting operations raided terrorists/human traffickers hideout in Yola South and Maiha LGAs of Adamawa State. During the operations, troops arrested 14 suspects and rescued 17 suspected victims.
d.Fighting Patrols. On 5 June 2024, following report, troops with hybrid forces while conducting fighting patrol recovered buried ammunitions in Nganzai LGA of Borno State. During the operation, troops recovered 220 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammo.
e.Raid Operation. On 5 June 2024, troops with hybrid forces raided a suspected BH/ISWAP terrorists enclave and made contact in Damboa LGA of Borno State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 14 terrorists and recovered 10 AK47 rifles, 3 dane guns, 3 single barrel guns, 3 hand grenades, one x 60mm mortal bomb, 367 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 250 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 132 rounds of 5.56 x 45mm ammo, 4 magazines, 3 IED batteries and 3 IED empty cells amongst others.
3.Air Interdiction. On 3 June 2024, air component of Operation HADIN KAI conducted air interdiction at newly uncovered BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists enclave at South of Mallam Fatori, Northern Tumbuns of Borno State. Following a confirmatory ISR, the locations were observed to be active with terrorists activities. Subsequently, the target was acquired and attacked with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their logistics destroyed.
SUMMARY
4.Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 83 terrorists, arrested 71 suspects and rescued 48 kidnappers hostages. Troops recovered 2 PKTguns, 35 AK47 rifles, 9 fabricated rifles, 10 dane guns, 3 single barrel guns, 3 60mm mortar bombs, 10 grenades, 21 magazines, 1,223 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 742 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 235 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 240 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammo, 132 rounds of 5.56 x 54mm, 2 bandoliers, 3 IED batteries, 3 IED cells, 4 baofeng radios, 4 motorcycles and one mobile phone only amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)
5. Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN recorded the following during the period under review; arrested violent extremists, gunrunner, responded to activities of violent extremists and conducted raid operations in Bassa and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State as well Sanga LGA of Kaduna State.
6. Details are as follows:
a.Arrests Operations.
(1) Between 2 and 5 Jue 2024, following INTREP, troops in separate operations raided and arrested 12 suspected violent extremists/gunrunner, armed robbers including a high profile kidnap kingpin in Bassa and Sanga LGAs of Plateau and Kaduna States as well as Akwanga LGA of Nasarawa State. Suspects identified as Muhammadu Suleiman (aka Muhammadu MOPOL), Hauwa Abubakar and Suleiman Ibrahim amongst others. During the operations, troops recovered 2 double barrel guns, one locally made pistol and 500 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo,.
(2) On 5 and 9 June 2024, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 12 suspected violent extremists in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State as well as Bassa, Bokkos, Riyom and Mangu LGAs of Plateau State.
b.Kidnap Incident. On 5 June 2024, troops responded to distress call on kidnapping of Uchu Fadan Ninzo, HRH Alh Dr Umar Musa and his wife at his Palace in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State. During the operation, troops rescued the Paramount Ruler while efforts is ongoing to rescue his wife and apprehend the perpetrators.
c.Raid Operation. On 6 June 2024, troops in separate operations raided suspected violent extremists hideouts in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State. During the operations, troops arrested 2 suspects identified as Ya’u Musa and Hassan Abdullahi.
d.Offensive Operations.
(1) On 4 and 6 June 2024, troops in separate offensive operations intercepted and arrested 2 violent extremists as well as rescued one kidnapped hostage in Riyom and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State. Suspects identified as Ya’u Musa and Hassan Abdullahi.
(2) On 10 June 2024, troops while conducting offensive operations responded to information on activities of suspected violent extremists in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State. During the operation, troops arrested 6 suspected extremists and recovered one G3 rifle, 2 revolver rifles, one magazine and 33 rounds of 7.62mm NATO.
e.Counter/Anti Kidnapping Criminality Op. On 5 and 7 June 2024, troops in separate counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to information on kidnapping incident in Riyom and Bokkos LGAs of Plateau State. During the operations, troops arrested 4 suspected violent extremists and rescued 16 kidnapped hostages.
SUMMARY
7.Overall, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralized 11 insurgents, arrested 64 violent extremists and rescued 21 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered one G3 rifle, 2 revolver rifles, 2 double barrel guns, one locally made pistol, one magazine, 500 rounds of 7.62mm special and 33 rounds of 7.62mm NATO amongst others.
OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)
8.Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded the following during the week under review; arrest of Suspected violent extremists in Ardo Kola LGA of Taraba State.
9.Details are as follows:
a.Arrest of Suspected Violent Extremists. On 4 and 6 June 2024, following a tip-off troops in separate operations arrested 6 suspected violent extremists/kidnappers including a female collaborator in Ardo Kola and Awe LGAs of Taraba and Nasarawa States respectively. During investigation, female suspect confessed to be a cook and informant for a kidnapping syndicate. During the operations, troops recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 66 rounds 7.62mm ball Special and 6 cartridges.
b.Counter/Anti Kidnapping Criminality Operations.On 8 and 10 June 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on activities of suspected violent extremists/kidnappers in Takum and Keffi LGAs of Taraba and Nasarawa States respectively. During the operations, troops rescued 21 kidnapped hostages while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
SUMMARY
10.Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 6 terrorists, arrested 20 violent extremists and rescued 36 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 66 rounds of 7.62mm special and 6 cartridges amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)
11.The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI recorded the following during the period under review; conducted offensive operations, raid operation and ambush operations as well as arrest of suspected terrorists in Zurmi and Maradun LGAs of Zamfara State as well as Wamako and Shanga LGAs Sokoto and Kebbi States.
12. Details are as follows;
a.Offensive Operations.
(1) On 3 and 4 June 2024, troops with hybrid forces in separate offensive operations made contact with terrorists in Zurmi LGA of Zamfara State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 2 terrorists and rescued 4 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 2 fabricated rifles, 52 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 6 motorcycles and 7 custom uniforms.
(2) Between 4 and 11 June 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with terrorists in Zurmi, Maradun and Gusau LGAs of Zamfara State as well as Chikun, Giwa, Birnin Gwari, Kajuru, Kagarko and Igabi LGAs of Kaduna State. Additionally, troops conducted operations in Wamako and Isa LGAs of Sokoto State as well as Danko-Wasagu and Rafi LGAs of Kebbi and Niger States respectively. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 28 terrorists and arrested 35 suspects. Troops also recovered 15 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated rifles, one fabricated SMG rifle, 3 dane guns, 2 baretta pistols, 18 AK47 magazines, one pistol magazine, 549 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 150 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 13 rounds 9mm ammo, 2 HH radios, 16 motorcycles, 4 mobile phones and the sum of N22,200.00 only amongst others.
b.Raid Operation. On 4 June 2024, following information on human trafficking activities, combined troops raided a suspected terrorists/human traffickers hideout in Wamako LGA of Sokoto State. During the operations, troops arrested 32 suspects comprising of 27 adult males and 5 adult females.
c.Ambush Operation. On 6 June 2024, following report troops conducted ambush operation and made contact with terrorists in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 11 terrorists and recovered 10 AK47 rifles, one dane gun, 6 magazines, 281 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 3 motorcycles.
d.Arrest of Suspected Terrorists.
(1) On 3 June 2024, following a tip off, troops intercepted and arrested one suspected terrorist identified as Umar Sanda Mohd in Shanga LGA of Kebbi State. Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect is a member of Turwa AR Gp in Central African Republic. Troops recovered one mobile phone and the sum of ₦1,234,000.00 and CFA 608,000.00.
(2) On 7 and 8 June 2024, following reports troops in separate operations arrested 3 suspected terrorists and collaborators in Danko-Wasagu and Danmusa LGAs of Kebbi and Katsina States respectively.
e. Counter/Anti – Kidnapping/Criminality Operations. On 8 and 9 June 2024, troops while in separate counter/anti kidnapping operations responded to information on activities of suspected terrorists in Faskari, Safana and Mai’Adua LGAs of Kastina State as well as Kaura Namoda and Kagarko LGAs of Zamfara and Kaduna States. During the operations, troops arrested 7 suspects and rescued 20 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 14 sniper rounds of 7.62mm ammo and one sniper magazine.
c. Terrorists Activities. Between 4 and 8 June 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on activities of suspected terrorists in Isa LGA Sokoto and Tsafe, Zurmi, Maru and Bungudu Zamfara States as well as Mulumfashi and Faskari LGAs of Katsina State. During the operations, troops made contact with terrorists. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 6 terrorists and rescued 8 kidnapped hostages. Additionally, troops recovered 4 AK47 rifles, 4 magazines, 161 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 8 motorcycles, military and NPF accoutrements.
13. Air Interdiction. On 4 and 5 June 2024, air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI conducted air interdiction in in Faskari and Tsafe LGAs of Katsina and Zamfara States respectively. Following intelligence and confirmatory ISR on hibernating of terrorists kingpins Bello Turji’s and Halilu with their foot soldiers in the locations. Consequently, the targets were acquired and attacked with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment and human feedback revealed that several terrorists were eliminated and their structures destroyed.
9.Additionally, on 8 June 2024, air interdiction was conducted on terrorists’ enclaves at Kimpau in Safana LGA of Katsina State. Following intelligence report and confirmatory ISR, the targets were acquired and attacked with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were eliminated and their structures destroyed.
SUMMARY
15.Overall, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 65 terrorists, arrested 80 terrorists and rescued 54 kidnapped hostages, Troops recovered 29 AK47 rifles, 7 fabricated rifles, 4 dane guns, one fabricated SMG, 2 baretta pistols, 991 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 202 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 13 rounds of 9mm ammo, 14 sniper rounds, 28 AK47 magazines, one pistol magazine, 9 motorcycles and the sum of N1,236,200.00 as well as CFA 608,000.00 amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION WHIRL PUNCH (NORTH WEST)
16.The troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH recorded the following during the week under review; conducted fighting patrols, ambush and raid operations in Giwa, Chikun and Birnin Gwari LGAs of Kaduna State as well Gwagwalada Area Council of FCT Abuja.
17.Details are as follows;
a.Fighting Patrol. On 5 June 2024, troops while on conducting fighting patrol made contact with violent extremists in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 2 terrorists and recovered one dane gun and 3 motorcycles.
b.Ambush Operations. On 4 and 6 June 2024, troops in separate ambush operations made contact with violent extremists/vandals in Chikun and Birnin Gwari LGAs of Kaduna State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 4 extremists and recovered 3 motorcycles, 2 dane guns, one berretta pistol, one pistol magazine, 43 rounds of 7.62mm NATO,13 rounds of 9mm and one fragmented jacket.
c.Raid Operation. On 5 and 6 June 2024, following a tip-off, troops in separate raid operations arrested 20 suspected violent extremists Informants and illegal miners in Gwagwalada Area Council of FCT Abuja.
d.Offensive Operations. Between 6 and 9 June 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with violent extremists/kidnappers in Chikun, Kagarko and Kachia LGAs of Kaduna State. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 4 extremists and rescued 6 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 3 AK47 rifles, 2 magazines, 119 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 2 mobile phones.
18. Air Interdiction. Following intelligence and confirmatory ISR on the massing up of top terrorists commanders at a known terrorist’ camp under the leadership of terrorists’ kingpin Alhaji Isiya who succeeded late terrorist’s kingpin Boderi at Tsaunin Doka in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State. The air component of Operation WHIRL PUNCH conducted air interdiction on 6 June 2024. Consequently, the target was acquired and attacked with rockets and bombs. Battle Damage Assessment and feedback from locals revealed that several terrorists with high profile commanders were eliminated and their logistics destroyed.
19.Similarly, on the same day, following reports and confirmatory ISR air component conducted air interdiction overhead a BH/ISWAP terrorists’ camp at east of Getamiya in Shiroro LGA of Niger State. The location was observed to be active with terrorists activities. Consequently the target was acquired and attacked with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their logistics destroyed.
SUMMARY
19.Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH neutralized 19 terrorists, arrested 18 suspects and rescued 23 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered3 AK47 rifles, 3 dane guns, one berretta pistol, one pistol magazine, 119 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 43 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 13 rounds of 9mm ammo, 6 motorcycles and 2 mobile phones amonsgt others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)
20.Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products. Troops also conducted raid operations and arrested suspected violent extremists/cultists in Uruan and Ovia North-East LGAs of Akwa Ibom and Edo States as well as Onelga and Nembe LGAs of Rivers and Bayelsa States.
21. Details as follows:
a.Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Sites. Troops recovered 728,360 litres of stolen crude oil, 143,450 litres of illegally refined AGO, 1,100 litres of DPK and 18,750 litres of PMS. Additionally, Troops discovered and destroyed 29 dugout pits, 22 boats and 26 storage tanks. Other items recovered include 66 cooking ovens, 85 drums, 8 vehicles, 3 mobile phones and 43 illegal refining sites.
a.Raid Operations. On 4 and 5 June 2024, troops in conjunction with DSS operatives in separate operations raided suspected violent extremists hideouts in Uruan and Ovia North-East LGAs of Akwa Ibom and Edo States respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 2 suspects and recovered one Jojef Magnum pump action gun, one EXP 64 semi-automatic rifle, 33 cartridges and 2 vehicles.
b.Arrest of Violent Extremists Militants/Vandals.
(1) On 4 and 6 June 2024, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 4 suspected violent extremists/militants and pipeline vandals in Onelga and Nembe LGAs of Rivers and Bayelsa States respectively. During the operations, troops recovered one AK47 rifle, one double barrel gun, 3 magazines, 87 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 4 cartridges and one mobile phone.
(2) Between 4 and 8 June 2024, following a tip-off, troops in separate operations conducted sting operations in Onelga and Nembe LGAs of Rivers and Bayelsa States as well as Ikom LGA of Cross River State. During the operations, troops arrested 6 suspected violent extremists/militants and armed robbers and recovered one AK47 rifle, one double barrel gun, one locally made pistol, 3 magazines, 87 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 24 cartridges, one motorcycle and 6 mobile phones.
b.Offensive Operations. On 6 June 2024, troops in separate offensive operations raided suspected violent extremists hideouts in Ijaw and Nembe LGAs of Bayelsa State. During the operations, troops neutralized one extremists and arrested 4 suspects. Troops also recovered 2 AK47 rifles, one locally fabricated pistol, one double barrel gun, 14 cartridges, 2 magazines and 98 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and one mobile phone.
SUMMARY
22.Overall, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered 728,360 litres of stolen crude oil, 143,450 litres of illegally refined AGO, 1,100 litres of DPK and 18,750 litres of PMS. Additionally, Troops discovered and destroyed 29 dugout pits, 22 boats and 26 storage tanks. Other items recovered include 66 cooking ovens, 85 drums, 8 vehicles, 3 mobile phones and 43 illegal refining sites.
23.Troops apprehended 32 suspected oil thefts and other violent extremists. Troops recovered 13 weapons and 442 assorted ammunitions.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION UDO KA (SOUTH EAST)
24.Troops of Operation UDO KA recorded the following during the week under review; conducted operations, arrested suspected violent extremists/IPOB/ESN and foiled kidnap incidents in Obingwa and Anambra West LGAs of Abia and Anambra State as well as Isiala Mbano and Ohaji/Egbema LGAs of Imo State.
25. Details as follows:
a.Raid Operations. On 3 June 2024, following INTREP troops raided a suspected violent extremists/IPOB/ESN shrine and Palace of Eze Ngozi Obia in Obingwa LGA of Abia State. During the operations, troops arrested 11 suspected violent extremists including the Eze and recovered 3 dane guns, 21 expended cartridges, 8 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, gun powder and assorted charms.
b.Arrest of Suspected Violent Extremists/IPOB/ESN.
(1) On 4 and 5 June 2024, troops while on patrol intercepted and arrested 2 suspected violent extremists/IPOB/ESN members in Isiala Mbano and Ohaji/Egbema LGAs of Imo State.
(2) Between 4 and 9 June 2024, following INTREP troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 5 suspected violent extremists/IPOB/ESN members in Isiala Mbano and Ohaji/Egbema LGAs of Imo State as well as Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State. During the operations, troops recovered 2 fabricated Beretal pistol, 2 locally made pistol, one short dane gun, 11 rounds of 9mm ammo, one stolen motorcycle and one stolen vehicle.
c.Kidnap Incident. On 4 June 2024, troops while on routine patrol made contact with violent extremists/kidnappers in Anambra-West LGA of Anambra State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 2 extremists and rescued 2 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered one fabricated AK47 rifle, one pump action gun, 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 16 cartridges.
d.Offensive Operations. Between 5 and 9 June 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with violent extremists/IPOB/ESN members in Ohaozara and Arochukwu LGAs of Ebonyi and Abia States as well as Orlu LGA of Imo State. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 4 extremists and arrested 3 suspects. Troops also recovered one locally fabricated RPG tube, one fabricated artillery gun with 10 fabricated artillery bombs, one loaded dane gun, one double barrels gun, 3 locally made pistols, one special weapon tripod, 30 live cartridges and 3 mobile phones amongst others.
e.Counter/Anti Kidnapping Criminality Operations. On 4 June 2024, troops while conducting counter/anti Kidnapping operation made contact with violent extremists in Anambra – East LGA of Anambra State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 2 extremists and rescued 2 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered one fabricated AK47 rifle, one pump action gun, 31 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 16 cartridges and one ECOME HH radio.
SUMMARY
26.Overall, troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized 13 terrorists, arrested 25 violent extremists and rescued 15 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered one AK47 rifle, one fabricated rifle, 4 dane guns, 2 pump action guns, 2 fabricated berretta pistols, one double barrel, one short dane gun, 5 locally made pistols, one locally fabricated RPG tube, one fabricated Arty gun, 10 fabricated Arty bombs, 42 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 8 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm, 62 live cartridges and 21 cartridges (expended), one ECOME HH radio, one vehicle and one motorcycle amongst other. All recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.
