Tragedy Strikes in Jos: School Building Collapse Leaves Community in Mourning

In a devastating turn of events, grief-stricken mothers and youths gathered in the Busa Buji neighborhood on Friday afternoon, following the sudden collapse of the Saint Academy Secondary School’s two-storey building.
The collapse occurred without warning, sending shockwaves through the community.
Our Correspondent report that the teachers had noticed unusual noises emanating from the building and were investigating the cause when the structure gave way.
Tragically, students were trapped under the rubble for several hours before an excavator from the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) could be brought in to assist with the rescue efforts.
Witnesses report that the building, which has produced numerous graduates in recent years, succumbed to structural failures exacerbated by the recent heavy rains that have caused flooding across several neighborhoods in Jos.
As rescue teams from JMDB worked tirelessly to save the trapped students, the scene at ECWA Specialist Hospitals Jankwanu was one of profound sorrow.
Parents of both the injured and deceased students openly wept and mourned their loss, while sympathizers, particularly women, offered their support and condolences.
Efforts to reach the General Manager of JMDB, Arc Hart Bankat, for comments were unsuccessful. It was reported that he had mobilized his team to the site of the collapse to oversee the ongoing rescue operations.
This heartbreaking incident has left the community in a state of mourning, raising urgent questions about building safety standards and the impact of recent weather conditions on infrastructure.
