Tragic Blast: Young Girl Killed by Boko Haram IED in Yobe State Market
In a heart-wrenching incident at the Buni/Yadi cattle market in Gujba local council of Yobe state, a 10-year-old girl lost her life after stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The explosion occurred on Friday, tragically damaging the girl’s legs before she succumbed to the injuries.
According to eyewitness accounts, the IED was intended to target a local vigilante group.
Haman Idi, a trader at the market, revealed to the Northeast Star Magazine that the vigilantes, who usually sit near the explosion site, were not present when the IED detonated.
“The blast caused immediate chaos,” Idi recounted, noting that many residents fled to their homes in fear.
The security situation has since been stabilized by the military and other security agencies patrolling the Damaturu-Biu axis, ensuring that the area remains under control amidst heightened vigilance.
