Troops kill five ISWAP terrorists in Borno community

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (JTF) of the Operations Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralized five Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists at Maina Hari in Borno state.
The terrorists met their waterloo, while attempting to infiltrate the ancient town of Biu, 185 kilomtres, south of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-General Onyema Nwachukwu stated this in a press statement signed and made available to Newsmen in Abuja on Sunday
“The terrorists were killed, when troops of 231 Battalion and 331 Artillery Regiment routed them in a failed incursion on the village on January 15, 2022.”
Besides, he added: “In the intense battle, troops unleashed superior fire power on the terrorists, neutralizing five of them,” stating that the other insurgents withdrew in disarray with gunshot wounds.

According to him, the arms recovered in the ambush include a gun truck, an anti-aircraft gun, a machine gun, and a rocket propelled grenade with 137 rounds of ammunition.
He said that the troops are currently pursuing the fleeing terrorists towards Sambisa Forest.
