Yobe fire victims get N27m support with Ramadan palliatives

Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, has supported fire victims with N27 million along with the distribution of Ramadan palliatives in Yobe North senatorial district.
According to him, the financial and palliative support are to complement the state government’s efforts to reduce the devastating effects of fire disasters.
Distributing the palliatives on Thursday, in Gashua, Senator Lawan, representing Yobe North senatorial district, said, “The recent fire disasters in Nguru, Yusufari and Machina local council areas, have led to the destruction of several houses and tons of grains in the affected communities.
The former Senate President stated that, “It’s our collective responsibility to stand firm and support one another, by providing relief materials to the devastated fire victims, comprising small-scale farmers and herders.”
In a break down of the disbursement, the Senator said, “Machina local council is to receive N12 million and 150 bags of rice for distribution in Ngabarawa, Dole, Ghana and Damai communities.
“Nguru council will also collect N5 million and 50 bags of rice and to be disbursed in Askema and Mirba communities, while Yusufari local council will receive N10 million along with 100 bags of rice for disbursement and distribution in Tulo-Tulo and Isufuri inferno-affected communities.
He urged the SAIL Foundation team to ensure that the financial support and Ramadan palliatives reach the fire victims in eight affected communities.
He called on the seven local councils to adopt preventative measures against fire outbreaks in the senatorial district, including the border communities with Niger Republic.
