Yobe monarch solicits World Bank support to protect people’s lives on roads

The Uban Garin Fika, Alhaji Umar Musa Muhammad has solicited the support of the World Bank to reduce the loss of many lives on roads in Yobe State.
According to him, the strict adherence to ‘traffic rules and regulations could save people’s lives and property.
Muhammad, who doubles as a member of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CITA), disclosed that; “We’ll seek the support of the World Bank to adhere to road safety rules in saving many lives of people.
He lamented that multiple road accidents in Yobe, Bauchi and Borno States have claimed over 35 lives this year.
Accepting the traditional title at the weekend (Friday), in Potiskum, he said that there are so many things that we need to do, reduce auto crashes that claim manly lives.
He said: “We had been lagging behind, but with the capacity of a traditional title holder and member of CITA, a lot of things could be done to save people’s lives on roads.”
The monarch assured that funds are to be accessed from the World Bank for road safety activities in the three states.
He thanked the Fika Emirate Council for finding him worthy for a safe and healthy society, despite the 13-year insurgency.
