Zulum pays N2.1 billion leave grants, gratuities to Borno workers

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has paid N2.1 million leave grants and gratuities of workers in the Civil Service.
According to him, the disbursements, were to cushion the effects of economic hardships triggered by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
The payments, were contained in a statement released on Friday in Maiduguri, by the Head of Service (HoS), Barr. Mallam Fannami.

“The payments of gratuities and leave grants were sequel to the demands of workers over their plights of economic hardships and the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Babagana Zulum, has once again graciously approved and directed for the immediate release of N2.1 billion.
In a breakdown of the released payments, he said that N1 billion is earmarked for the gratuities retired workers in the civil service.
While N602.13 million and N500 million are for the payments of 2023 leave and transport grants, and gratuities of staff of the Unified Local Government Service.
He appreciated Zulum for the resilience of civil servants.
Fannami, therefore, appealed workers for their patience and understanding, as the State government will continue to address their problems within the limited resources.
