Zulum to remodel hospital to meet healthcare delivery standards

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has ordered for the remodeling of the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital (MSPH) along with the doctors’ quarters.
According to him, the remodeling of the health institution was to meet international health facilities standards in the State.

Zulum gave the order, at the weekend (Saturday), in Maiduguri, while assessing the state of healthcare delivery services in the hospital.
He said that to meet healthcare delivery standards, the hospital has to be remodeled this year by rebuilding new structures along the Shehu Laminu Way, Maiduguri.
Besides the remodeling of hospital, he also directed the Ministry of Health and Human Services to rehabilitate the Buba Marwa House, which accommodates medical doctors working at the Specialist Hospital.
On how to remodel the hospital, he said: “After assessing the capacity of the hospital, in healthcare delivery, we will soon embark on erecting more structures and make certain adjustments.
“This will enable doctors and other health workers have offices in the hospital premises,” he said.
The Governor also announced that medical equipment will be procured with the recruitment of more medical staff, including doctors and nurses.
He added that the State government will provide more water supply, sanitation and health WASH) facilities.
According to hi, all these efforts are geared towards re-positioning the health care system in the State.
