2023 Election: Amb Buratai warns Nigerians against violence
By Matthew Eloyi
With just a few days to the 2023 general elections, former Chief of Army Staff, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Amb Tukur Yusuf Buratai has advised Nigerians to reject violence and distance themselves from any politicians who seek to disrupt the system through violence.
Buratai, who gave the advice in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, expressed confidence that the Independent Nationa Electoral Commission (INEC) would do a better job in the 2023 election than in 2019, and that the elections would be peaceful, free, and fair.
The former Army Chief, who described himself as both a Democrat and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that the party means well for Nigeria, and also stands a better chance of winning the presidential elections, adding that the party is working around the clock to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the election.

According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been tested for 16 years, therefore, APC should be given a benefit of the doubt for another 8 years, adding that Nigerians may wish to take decisive action if the party does not meet their expectations at the 8 years.
In his words, “One will be ready to join such action even if it means Democratic Revolution. Nigeria should be much better than it is today. The foundation laid in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari must be continued.”
