2023 Election: Charly Boy reveals why youths support old politicians
Prior to the upcoming 2023 election, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, often known as Charly Boy, a legendary Nigerian singer, and campaigner, cited hunger and poor stomach health as the main causes of some young people’s support for established politicians.
According to Charly Boy, who defined the 2023 election as a chance to realize the “Dream Nigeria,” in order for the nation to overcome the many issues it faces, the people must search for a new leader who has come to rule rather than merely to win an election.
The artist revealed in an interview with newsmen that he supports Labour Party, LP presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi because of his dedication to protecting the future of young people in the nation.

He added that this would be his first time endorsing a politician.
“I have never supported any candidate since my journey as an activist. This is the first time I am supporting a candidate because that’s where you can find the majority of the youth. So anything to help them reclaim their future, I am all down for it.
“The salvation of this country lies in the hands of exceptional people like the young ones and somehow I’m beginning to see a re-awakening. So I’m happy that there’s this reawakening and they are taking charge of their future and as a father, I can’t just wait for the dream of the young Nigerians to come through.
“We are not looking for an angel but a servant in the form of a leader”, he said.
He urged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to take advantage of the opportunity to choose the proper leaders in the upcoming election, and he issued a warning that if they did not exercise good judgment, “they would end up wishing President Muhammadu Buhari was still in office.“
