By Ahmed AHMED
All Progressive Congress (APC) Bauchi Youth Forum in Bauchi state has raised alarms over the alleged hijacking of primaries by leaders of the party in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Coordinator of the Forum Malam Aminu Mohammed Wunti made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi.
He said it is time for the state leadership to resist the imposition of political office holders by some party leaders within the state and Abuja based leaders.
Wunti said the people must be allowed to choose their leaders and not allow only a group of persons to select for them.
“The futile attempt by one of the Bauchi APC gubernatorial aspirants to be imposed as a consensus candidate of the party would not go well for the party.
He maintained that there must not be an imposition of candidates on party members in the state of the APC in the forthcoming primary election,
Wunti warned that anyone harbouring such a thought would perish it but should come and test his or her popularity and acceptability.
The Coordinator tasked stakeholders and party executives not to engage in any form of imposition of candidates in the upcoming primaries.
“It is only a popular and generally acceptable candidate that would deliver victory for the APC in Bauchi State. I hereby call on stakeholders and the APC executives, not to engage in any form of imposition or compromise of the process in the interest of the party.
“I appeal to party men and women to be civil and peaceful. It will be in the interest of us to be peaceful and for those coming from national executives of the party to conduct the primaries that we can all be proud of. Wunti said.
He called on delegates to vote wisely during the primaries to ensure that Democracy is entrenched in the party.
