2023: Obi seeks emir of Bauchi, Sheik Bauchi blessings

The Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi has sought the blessing of the Emir of Bauchli, Dr Rilwanu Adamu and Islamic Cleric Sheik Dahiru Bauchi over his ambition.
Our correspondent reports that Mr Obi was in Bauchi on Wednesday for the North East harmonization tour with support groups.
The Presidential candidate, while speaking at the emir’s palace expressed his gratitude to the emir for granting him audience.
“We are here to pay our respect to you as our traditional father. We thank you for receiving us and used the opportunity to seek your blessings.

“We pray to Allah to continue to give the Emir long life and sound health to take care of the citizens,” he said.
Responding, The Emir of Bauchi, Dr Adamu explained that traditional leaders always remain neutral in the political spheres.
He, however, wished the presidential candidate all the best in his ambition.
On his part, Sheik Bauchi prayed for the presidential candidate and his running mate Dr Yusuf Datti-Ahmed.
Meanwhile, at the Party Secretariat Mr Obi maintained that if elected president, his priorities would be on securing the country, Agriculture, fighting poverty and corruption.
He, however, pledged to dredge river Niger and Benue as mitigation to persistent flooding in the country.
Mr Obi pointed out that he suspended the campaign because of the flood issue.
“As you can see, floods are ravaging the entire country and people are dying; people are being displaced.
“We are resuming the campaign Saturday this month,” he said.
