The First Lady of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, welcomed Abuja’s first baby of the year 2025 during a visit to the Asokoro District Hospital on Wednesday. Represented by Mrs. Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, she celebrated the milestone birth alongside other New Year babies at the facility.

She also acknowledged the first baby boy of the year, Zimchikachim Ejiofor, who arrived at 7:14 a.m. weighing 3kg, born to Mr. Ejiofor Nworie and Mrs. Delight Ejiofor.
The First Lady distributed baby care packages, nutritional supplies, and cash gifts to the families, urging mothers to prioritize exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, and post-natal care. She remarked, “These children represent the next generation to lead us forward. I pray for their good health, long life, and prosperity.”
Dr. Rosemary Nwokorie, Acting Chief Medical Director of Asokoro District Hospital, lauded the Tinubu administration for its dedication to improving healthcare. She also praised the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which has significantly supported vulnerable women and children across Nigeria.
As part of the visit, birth certificates were presented to the first baby of the year and the first baby boy, while the First Lady toured the maternity ward to congratulate other parents.
The event underscored the First Lady’s commitment to maternal and child welfare and marked a hopeful start to the year for families in the Federal Capital Territory.
