Abandoned, Zanna Laisu still in Boko Haram captivity after one year
On the day Capitol Hill was attacked by disgruntled Americans who felt that Mr Donald Trump was short-changed in the 2021 US presidential elections, Zanna Laisu the District Head of Manna in Gaidam LGA of Yobe State was abducted by the Soldiers of Khilafa alias known as ISWAP Boko Haram fighters.
That day, the 6th January 2021, the people of Manna and the four daughters of the local chief bid farewell to their leader and father respectively.

A family source of the abducted District Head told this medium that until recently they thought that their brother and leader is dead. “We are all aware that it was Boko Haram that kidnapped him but we never thought that he’s still alive,” said the family member.
Zanna Laisu has four daughters and is an employee of the Gaidam Local Government Council. Those who know him said that the traditional leader is a man of peace, very reserved and doesn’t like trouble.
What is baffling is how this amiable traditional leader was abandoned to rot away in the custody of the insurgents. Except for his family that is making effort to get him released, no one seems to care.
” I am using this medium to appeal to his abductors, the Soldiers of Khilafa to please show mercy and release the old man to us. We are not politicians and we don’t have anything to say to them but only to have mercy; let them show Rahma to this man. At the same time, I am calling on the Yobe State Government as well as the Emir of Gazargamu to have some empathy and look on us,” said another family member.
Alhaji Laisu was born on the 1st October 1960 and he resides permanently in the Ashgari ward of Gaidam.
