ABU’s Prof. Kasim becomes Provost, Air Force Institute of Technology
Prof. Auwal Kasim of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna, has been appointed the Provost of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).
The appointment was made by the Governing Council of AFIT.
The Director of Public Affairs, ABU, Malam Auwalu Umar, made the disclosure in a statement on Friday in Zaria.
He said that the appointment was for a single non-renewable tenure of five years.
Umar said that the appointment was conveyed in a letter dated Dec. 28, 2023, and signed by the Registrar of the institute, Air Commodore Mohammed-Sheriff Lawal.

He said that Kasim’s appointment would take effect from Jan 8.
He said that the appointment was due to Kasim’s outstanding performance at the job interview.
According to him, Kasim will take over from Prof. Muhammad Dauda, who came from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of ABU and has just finished his tenure as AFIT Provost.
He quoted the ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, as congratulating Kasim on the appointment and wished him God’s guidance.
