Adamawa first lady initiates medical outreach to revitalise health sector
The wife of Adamawa Governor, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, ,has commenced a week-long free medical outreach for people in Adamawa Central Senatorial District.
The exercise was flagged-off on Saturday at the Yola Specialists Hospital.
Speaking during the flag-off, Fintiri said the outreach was organised under her pet project–Fresh Air Profile Empowerment Foundation.
Fintiri explained that the initiative was part of her efforts to support the state government’s drive to revitalise the health sector.
She said the outreach would attend to patients suffering from health challenges like cervical cancer, diabetes, hypertension, malaria and other related diseases.

“Thousands of women would be screened against the dreaded cervical cancer,” she said.
According to her, seasoned medical experts drawn from across the country had been engaged for the exercise at no cost to the patients.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Prof. Abdullahi Isah, lauded the initiative of the governor’s wife, saying it would impact positively on the people.
He described the intervention as timely and very much desirous for those suffering from different ailments.
The commissioner said the ministry would monitor the exercise for maximum result, adding that the state government had constructed seven additional hospitals and stocked them with drugs and medical equipment.
The reports gathered that no fewer than 1,700 patients were previously treated in the southern district for different ailments during the first phase of the outreach.
Adamawa Central Senatorial District comprises Gombi, Hong, Girei, Song, Yola North,Yola South and Fufore local government areas.
