Adamawa Gov urges Nigerians to elect President from Northeast to end insurgency

The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged Nigerians to elect a President from the Northeast to bring an end to the insurgency being witnessed in different parts of the country.
The Governor made the call while speaking at the 2021 Northeast Star Magazine awards on Thursday, in Yola.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Maxwell Gidado, Governor Fintiri opined that insurgency in the Northeast would end within the first term of the Presidency of any candidate of Northeastern extraction, because according to him, “he who wears the shoe, knows where it pinches.”

He said the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtrd.) did his best in trying to bring the insurgency to the end but his effort only resulted in modest gains because the counter-insurgency efforts did not get 100 percent support required from the presidency.
According to him, since the Northeast is most affected by the insurgency, any president from the region would do anything to curb the menace.
