AFCRD 2025: Army Chief Salutes Troops, Vows Improved Welfare
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has commended officers, soldiers, and their families in celebration of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration (AFRDC).
In a statement by Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, Oluyede paid tribute to the sacrifices of fallen heroes who gave their lives to uphold Nigeria’s unity, peace, and stability. He described the annual celebration as a moment to honor both the dead and living military personnel for their bravery and valor.
The COAS acknowledged the contributions of veterans who worked to ensure peace and harmony in the country, urging Nigerians to embrace understanding and unity despite differences in ideology and diversity.
Addressing serving personnel, Oluyede praised their commitment to safeguarding the nation. “Your acts of bravery and gallantry may never be recorded in history books, but they remain etched in the hearts of humanity,” he said.
He urged military personnel to emulate the virtues of their predecessors and uphold their oath of allegiance while tackling the nation’s security challenges with loyalty and resilience.
Oluyede also reassured troops of his leadership’s dedication to their welfare and that of their families, emphasizing that their sacrifices today would secure a brighter future for generations yet unborn.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held annually, is a platform to celebrate the courage of Nigeria’s military personnel and recognize their pivotal role in defending the nation.
