AfDB Lauds Bauchi’s Success in Livelihood Empowerment Programme
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has commended Bauchi State for its successful implementation of the Inclusive Basic Service Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Programme (IBSDLEIP).
During a supervision mission on Friday, AfDB Task Manager Mthokozisi Ncube praised Bauchi for its outstanding progress among the five northeastern states participating in the project. She highlighted the state’s achievements in providing essential services to vulnerable communities.
“The programme has significantly improved access to water, sanitation, healthcare, and education in Bauchi,” Ncube said during a visit to Governor Bala Mohammed at the Government House. She described the state as a model of success, citing its remarkable record in project execution.
Ncube also noted that the programme’s core objective is to enhance access to basic social services and improve livelihoods for economic recovery. She emphasized the importance of water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), education, and healthcare in driving sustainable development.
Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by Secretary to the State Government Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, thanked the AfDB for its commitment to the initiative. He underscored the state’s dedication to improving the lives of the vulnerable and fostering sustainable growth.
“AfDB’s support has been critical in driving our progress, and we remain committed to sustaining this partnership,” Mohammed said.
Bauchi State Project Coordinator, Engineer Garba Babaji Magaji, reported a 90% success rate in implementing IBSDLEIP’s components, despite challenges. He noted that the state’s achievements are a testament to the effectiveness of the AfDB’s interventions and the dedication of local stakeholders.
