Air Burkina Expands Fleet with New Aircraft Arrival from China
By Lawrence Bilal Audu
Air Burkina, the national airline of Burkina Faso, has taken delivery of a brand-new aircraft from China, marking a major feat in its fleet expansion plans.
The new plane arrived at Ouagadougou’s international airport on Saturday, September 28, 2024, and is expected to enable the airline to resume flights in the coming days.
This addition bolsters Air Burkina’s fleet, which currently comprises Embraer aircraft, including two Embraer 170, one Embraer 175, and two Embraer 195. The new aircraft will help address the airline’s operational challenges, particularly after two of its oldest Embraer 170 planes were grounded due to technical issues since 2018.
The acquisition is a strategic move to enhance Air Burkina’s service offerings, improve reliability, and expand its route network. With this new aircraft, the airline aims to restore its position as a leading carrier in the region.
