Anthony Joshua Eyes Tyson Fury Showdown in 2025
Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has declared his ambition for 2025: a high-stakes clash with Tyson Fury to reclaim his status as a three-time world heavyweight champion.
Joshua revealed his plans during a conversation with State House Correspondents after meeting President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday in Lagos.
When asked about his chances against Fury, Joshua said: “We’ll see. Let’s get in the ring. Only God knows, but for me, we’ll see in the future.”
Reflecting on his career, Joshua expressed a hunger for redemption and greater success. “Time is of the essence, time is limited. In 2024, when I look back, I believe I could have done more. I have another chance in 2025 to do more. I’m going to make sure that I take every opportunity that comes my way,” he said.
Joshua, who suffered a setback against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Sept. 23, 2024, remains undeterred. “I should have won my last match, but I didn’t. Ups and downs happen. To some people, it’s always up, but my life is up and down. I just have to keep riding the wave until I reach my destination.”
During his visit, Joshua commended President Tinubu and his team for their hospitality and leadership. “I got to meet His Excellency. They did an amazing job hosting me and my family today. I see how the country is organised and run, and I feel good energy about the big plans for the future,” he said.
As 2025 begins, Joshua is resolute in his quest to face Tyson Fury and cement his legacy in the boxing world.
