APC Stalwart wants Bauchi Governor to address attacks on opposition parties –

A Stalwart of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Bauchi state, Mr Ukkasha Rahama, has called on the state governor, Bala Mohammed to address the ‘increasing attacks on the opposition parties in the state.
The APC Stalwart, who made the call at a news conference in Bauchi on Wednesday, said the level at which political billboards, postal and other campaign materials were been destroyed is worrisome.
“I am thrilled to address you and the entire people of Bauchi state on the Delima and unfortunate incident of the increasing attacks on the opposition Parties particularly, the All Progressives Congress in the State under the watch of the People Democratic Party in Bauchi State and the urgent need to call the thugs and their sponsors to order.
“Bauchi State in history is known and described across the length and breadth of Nigeria as a pace-setter that laid the standard for politics and politicians on the direction to follow.

“Since the inception of what is called Nigeria today, Bauchi State and her politicians have been at the forefront and have dominated political scenes in the country both in terms of elections and by federal appointments making us the leading State and a political tutor to others.
“It is in the light of the above that as a bonafide son of the State and a beneficiary of this aforementioned School of thoughts, see the need to draw the attention of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Mohammed on the urgent need to address the increasing attacks on the opposition All Progressives Congress in the State especially as we are approaching the General elections comes 2023 of which the process of electing leaders through party process has commenced earnestly.
“The scenes of destruction of billboards and campaign of Nura Manu-Soro led by unknown persons stand Condemnable and unfortunate. This is coming at the time the said Nura Manu Soro has every constitutional right to contest whatever political seat he may deem fit according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
Rahama also added that the Bauchi people were surprised to see that those who should have led the arrest of the thugs behind the ugly situation turned out to be their leaders, saying the trend would no doubt spell doom on the upcoming political activities in the state.
He also called on the state Commissioner of Police, the Director, State Security Services (SSS) and all other security agencies to ensure that all the Political thugs and their sponsors behind the attacks are arrested and prosecuted according to the law of the land so as to serve as a deterrent to other with similar motives.
“The clap down on the opposition, the All Progressives Congress, in the State is condemnable by all and sundry.
“It should not continue to happen as the recurrence of such will pitch the parties and the politicians against each other and denies the state of any meaningful development.
“The Governor as a beneficiary of opposition must protect Bauchi’s long ancestral heritage where power and money do not win elections for aspirants.
“To this end, Nura Manu-Soro as a Member of All Progressives Congress has all the moral and constitutional rights to contest for the office of the Governor of Bauchi State and on no account should he as a citizen be intimidated into not contesting due to the activities of thugs and their sponsors by destroying his campaign materials.
“Power belongs to Almighty and nobody should dare God”.
