APC suspends Kumalia over alleged anti-party activities in Borno

The Borno state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has suspended Hon, Umara Kumalia for alleged engagements in anti-party activities.
Suspending Kumalia, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri, in a letter signed by the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) ward Chairman and Secretary, Modu Gofama and Mohammed Kagu; disclosed: “Following the 2019 general elections, you contested for the governorship primary election in Borno state on the platform of APC and lost.
“This led to your subsequent activities against the ruling party in the state.”
Besides, Gofama in the letter, stated that the ward working committee of the party, however; observed some anti-party activities with dismay.

According to Gofama, there was the consistent engagement of acts that are inimical to APC and other related activities against the ruling party.
He noted that these are contrary to Article 21 (2) of the 2022 party Constitution, as amended.
Besides, he added that Kumalia instituted various actions against the party at the Supreme and Appeal Courts, Jos and the Federal High Court, Maiduguri.
Prior to the suspension, Kumalia was a stalwart of APC after he defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also aspired for the Governorship on the platform of APC, but was, however; defeated in the 2018 primary elections by the incumbent Governor, Babagana Zulum.
