Army repels ISWAP attack on Borno border community

Troops of Sector 3, Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have repelled the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on the Monguno border community in Borno State.
The terrorists on Friday 7, 2023 attempted to penetrate the most populous Monguno town sheltering over 20, 000 displaced persons in camps.
A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed yesterday (Friday), in Maiduguri that the troops successfully repelled the terrorists in a fierce gun battle for about an hour.

A military source in Maiduguri, also stated that the ISWAP terrorists had previously launched several deadly attacks on Monguno, but they were not successful in penetrating the IDPs’ camps.
According to Makama, the terrorists usually burst from the south flank of Lake Chad, 55 kilometres to their hideout camps.
